Retail Mixed Use Center Designed by Wakefield Beasley & Associates set to open in Orlando's tourism

A 108,000 square foot mixed-use retail project designed by Wakefield Beasley & Associates Architects, Inc., is under construction now and set to open in March at the intersection of Universal Blvd. and Canadian Ct. in southwest Orlando.

Dennis Schott, project manager for the Jacksonville office of Wakefield Beasley and construction administrator for the 12-acre project, said Lake Cay Commons will feature a 13,000 square foot grocery store anchor, adjacent 13,000 square feet of retail shops, another 42,000 square foot building with retail shops and second-floor offices as well as out parcels.

"This project has been a long time coming for an area which is perfect for a grocer," said Schott. "With our site overlooking Universal Boulevard and just a few blocks from the Orange County Convention Center, it's perfect for both tourists and residents in the area."

"The project provides pedestrian access to serve the residents of Universal Boulevard from the adjacent condominium complex and nearby Shingle Creek," he added.

Thomas Enterprises of Newnan, Ga. is the developer. J. Raymond Construction, Inc., of Longwood is the general contractor.
